My name is Zara Louise Dickinson and I am the artist behind 'Art by Zara Louise'
I am a semi-professional artist (being that I share my time between part time employment and creating and selling my artwork). I am based near Thirsk in North Yorkshire, where I live with my husband and our springer spaniel.
Following GCSE art, I am mainly self taught, having had some tuition from professional artist Patrick Smith in relation to landscape painting in acrylic. Mostly I have followed YouTube tutorials whenever I have needed some direction, taken advice from professional local artist (and art shop owner) Wendy Brown and just practiced with different mediums - finding methods that work for me.
In relation to my fibre art I learned the basics through an online kit and book, but found a workshop with Claire Priestley at Teesdale Felt invaluable in relation to perfecting techniques (Claire also has a huge range of fabulous supplies for creating with wool fibres)
I draw animal portraits in coloured pencil and soft pastel/pastel pencils, and paint animals and landscapes - preferring to use acrylics. All of my mediums are professional grade to ensure longevity of the finished artwork.
I'm also a fibre/textile artist creating artwork using wet and dry felting techniques, combined with machine stitching and hand embroidery, beading and embellishment.
As you can see from my home page and gallery, I achieve different styles depending on what medium I am using.
